About Us

Why we do what we do

People are looking for ways to respond effectively to the challenges and opportunities they face in collaboration, at work and in their daily lives.

Sociocracy 3.0 is a social technology that people can use to help them radically improve their interactions and the value they can create through their work. When understood and applied as intended, the S3 principles and practices  support an iterative approach to organizational development with beneficial outcomes for individuals, teams and the organization as a whole.

We feel motivated to spread the word about Sociocracy 3.0 and raise public awareness of the value that applying S3 principles and patterns can bring. We want to support people to learn how to get the best out of Sociocracy 3.0 and to use it as an enabler in their efforts to navigate life’s complexity, create value, and help current and future generations to thrive.
To eliminate the barrier of entry for people and organizations, Sociocracy 3.0 developers make all resources freely available under a Creative Commons Sharealike 4.0 Licence. This open model of distribution encourages others to share further resources under the same licence, to facilitate the growth of a vibrant ecosystem for learning. However, as with any open social technology , challenges arise, such as  the question of how to ensure a degree of accuracy and quality standard is maintained in the transmission and implementation of S3, as it’s application continues to spread around the world. It’s our intention to ensure we preserve the quality and integrity of Sociocracy 3.0 through our work in the years to come.

What we do

Based on the needs we identified, and our skills and passion, we prioritized the following deliverables:
  • Gather and create validated learning resources about Sociocracy 3.0
  • Develop and deliver quality learning interventions worldwide
  • Support the successful application of S3 by providing ancillary services through our key partners
  • Create opportunities for enthusiasts and practitioners of Sociocracy 3.0 to exchange and learn

Who we are

We are a steward-owned organization

What does this mean? We are committed to two principles:

  • The decision makers are stewards who are directly connected to the operations and serve the purpose of our organization, rather than personal gain alone.
  • Profit serves purpose

  • Profits generated are used to finance further development of products and services. Investors and other stakeholders are fairly compensated with capped returns.

How we do it

Using Sociocracy 3.0

We walk our talk by applying the principles and practices of Sociocracy 3.0 to organize and run our organization. We have clearly defined domains, governance and operations backlogs and chosen values. We evaluate and evolve our agreements and navigate via tension.

Evolving a new Business Model

How to bring together multiple stakeholders to collaborate at a global scale? Challenge accepted! We're developing our own tailor-made approach:
  • We give forward 5% of profit towards Sociocracy 3.0, as a voluntary act of support
  • We contribute 5% of profit from courses towards Learn S3 to cover basic administrative costs
  • We collaborate with partners from different countries who organize and promote our courses
  • We seek ways to fund sustainable development of resources and learning journeys

Delivering Quality

We believe certification programs can fail to guarantee quality and integrity
of learning and service delivery. However, assessment and validation of learning and competence is key for supporting practitioners in their ongoing development, and for providing assurance to others of competence and skills. We’re developing a comprehensive program comprised of a variety of modular learning journeys that people can choose from and tailor to suit their needs.

As teachers, we are on a continuous journey of personal and professional development.
We’ve set ourselves high standards and  we support each other to reach them by sharing learning, giving and receiving feedback, and endeavoring to be the change we want to see.
